It's high time to upload a new journal entry, I think.

I haven't even imagined that studies could take so much time.

Finally, I'll manage this week to go out and take some photos.

This month I started my student's practical training in a lab.

So I work now in (get yourself prepared, it's a long name

):
LABORATORY for OPTICAL SPECTROSCOPY of NANOSTRUCTURES at Institute of Physics at the University of Technology in Wroclaw.

Here's a "short" description of what we do there:
The research activity of the Laboratory for Optical Spectroscopy of Nanostructures concentrates on novel semiconductor materials, nanostructures and nanocrystals for the applications in optoelectronics, photonics, high temperature electronics and quantum computing. Absorption- and emission-like measurement techniques, applied at a broad range of wavelengths (0.2 - 4 µm) and temperatures (1.5-300 K), also in the presence of a strong magnetic field, allow the determination of physical and device-oriented parameters in quantum dots, quantum dashes, quantum wells, heterostructures and nanopowders of III-V and II-VI semiconductor compounds and nanocrystalline silicon.
Since 2000 the Lab has carried out three projects of EU, two NATO projects and several national grants. It is currently taking part in three projects within EU Framework Programme and three national grants.
(Laboratorium Optycznej Spektroskopii Nanostruktur prowadzi badania nowych materiałów polprzewodnikowych ich nanostruktur i nanokryształów przeznaczonych do zastosowań w optoelektronice, fotonice, wysokotemperaturowej elektronice oraz kwantowym przetwarzaniu informacji. Zastosowanie absorpcyjnych i emisyjnych metod pomiarowych w szerokim zakresie spektralnym 0.2 - 4 µm oraz temperatur 1.5-300 K również w obecności silnego pola magnetycznego pozwala na wyznaczenie parametrów fizycznych oraz aplikacyjnych kropek, kresek, studni kwantowych, heterostruktur, nanoproszków, związków polprzewodnikowych III-V, II-VI oraz nanokrystalicznego krzemu. Od roku 2000 Laboratorium Optycznej Spektroskopii Nanostruktur realizowało 3 projekty UE, 2 projekty NATO oraz kilka grantów krajowych. Obecnie uczestniczy w realizacji 3 projektów VII PR UE oraz 3 projektów zamawianych i rozwojowych.)
Now you can imagine why I'm so excited about my practices. :3 Just after Easter I will be admitted to take my first measurement.

And my tutor promised me that he will take for symposium when I'll be on my 3 rd year of studies at least... *gets melted* (and some day I probably will be able to meet ~

And as for more news... this week is my birthday!

On one side - I can't wait for it, just like every year, but on the other side... I won't be a teenager anymore. ;-; I still can't get used to this.
